Strathalbyn Hampden Way submission deadline looms
“The current zoning allows for housing and some commercial and retail uses such as consulting rooms, offices and small-scale shops,” Ekistics project manager Ryan Moyle previously told The Argus
People wanting to have their say on a proposed major rezoning process at Strathalbyn’s ‘northern gateway’ have until Monday to do so.
As previously reported in The Southern Argus, Strath Property Investments Pty Ltd is seeking to change zoning of Lots 13, 14 and 20 Hampden Way, and Lots 11 and 12 Braemar Drive to a ‘Local Activity Centre Zone’ to allow development of the land.
The Code Amendment proposes to introduce a policy framework that will facilitate appropriate local activity centre development, with a strong focus on convenience-based retail and commercial uses, including a small-scale supermarket.
An independent 9-week consultation process kicked off in November to allow public submissions on the rezoning proposal, which is separate to a previously approved On the Run service station and ancillary food development at Lot 508 Braemar Drive, and an already under-construction indoor gym, medical centre and pharmacy on part of the site.
The area being considered for rezoning is five allotments of land on the corner of Adelaide Road, Braemar Drive and Hampden Way – north of Braemar Drive only.
“The current zoning allows for housing and some commercial and retail uses such as consulting rooms, offices and small-scale shops,” Ekistics project manager Ryan Moyle previously told The Argus.
“The proposed new zoning would allow for uses such as a supermarket, speciality shops, bulky goods, childcare, consulting rooms and other personal services to meet the needs of locals.”
For more information or to have your say, visit: (https://plan.sa.gov.au/have_your_say/code-amendments/on-consultation) by Monday, January 23.
Following the consultation period, an Engagement Report will be prepared, and all submissions reviewed before the Minister makes a decision.
