Shop local to win $1000 cash prize

In the lead up to the busy pre-Christmas sales period, readers are being encouraged to shop locally, as part of an exciting campaign where The Southern Argus will give away $1000 to one lucky winner.

When you make a purchase at one of the participating businesses in The Southern Argus’ Shop Local campaign, you qualify for one entry to win the $1000 cash prize as a reward for shopping locally.

With 12 participating businesses, readers have a range of places of local businesses to shop at, from hotels and cafes, to retail outlets, mechanics and more.

The Southern Argus advertising and sales manager Darren Robinson said a major $1000 cash prize appeals to everyone.

“With cost-of-living pressures continuing to impact households, we wanted to offer something genuinely meaningful,” he said.

“Whether the winner puts it towards Christmas gifts, everyday expenses or simply treats themselves, $1000 cash can make a real difference.”

Mr Robinson said that local businesses are the “backbone of our communities” and every dollar invested locally helps to support local jobs, families and the wider regional community.

“As we approach the busy Christmas shopping period, this campaign is a timely reminder that we have so many fantastic businesses right on our doorstep,” he said.

“By making the choice to shop locally, we’re investing in the future of our own communities.”

The Shop Local promotion follows strong enthusiasm from a similar initiative run through The Southern Argus last year.

Mr Robinson said his personal love for the initiative is that everyone benefits.

“Our participating businesses receive valuable exposure and customer support, while shoppers have the opportunity to win $1000 simply by making purchases they may already be planning,” he said.

“It’s a wonderful example of The Southern Argus bringing businesses and the local community together.”

The campaign launches today, November 5, and ends December 4 at noon.

The lucky winner will be announced in The Southern Argus in the December 10 edition.
