A local op shop has returned a donation back to the community by sponsoring Strathalbyn’s upcoming Christmas Where the Angas Flows event.
After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, thousands of people will gather at the Soldiers Memorial Gardens on Friday, December 16 for the 46th annual Christmas celebration, including pageant, markets and fireworks.
Strathalbyn Op Shop Committee President Neil Hissey said members unanimously voted to donate $500 to the beloved family event.
“The community gives so much support to us, and we are putting this back into the community so we can show our appreciation,” he said.
“It is nice to see the event come back, when everybody in the town can get together and have a good time, and we would like to support that.
“It is important to keep money like this local, and the more businesses and groups that support it, the better.”
On behalf of the Christmas Where the Angas Flows Committee, Treasurer Penny Geue thanked the Milnes Road op shop for its donation and encouraged others to support the long-awaited event.
“We are extremely grateful for the donation, and that is from the heart,” she said.
“We are encouraging businesses to get onboard and support the community.
“Those interested in making a donation can do so via the Christmas Where the Angas flows Facebook page.
“Without support like this we can’t do it, there’s no way.”
