The $43 million revitalisation of the new Granite Island Causeway was opened just in time for Christmas, with thousands of visitors and locals set to enjoy the major tourism drawcard over summer.
The re-opening also signals the iconic horse-drawn tram’s return, which has provided passenger services for more than 120 years.
