After serving local customers for 15 years, The Hive Hair and Beauty staff have developed strong relationships with the community.
“In a country salon, it’s not just ‘take a number’ – you actually build relationships with them, especially when you’ve been doing their hair for 15 years,” co-owner, Kim Fleming said.
“I love people and making people feel good – you get a lot of joy out of that.
“They can come in feeling the doom and gloom of everything and come out on cloud nine.
“People want to chat and they feel better when they leave.”
The Strathalbyn salon is celebrating a milestone 15 years of business, a longevity the owners credit to the loyal community and staff members.
Ms Fleming started the business with Donna Hoffman, after the two met at antenatal classes.
Both working as hairdressers, their dream of co-owning a salon together became a reality when they purchased the former Hair Razors.
In the beginning, the pair took in turns looking after each other’s children while the other would attend work.
Back then, they never expected their business to grow into what it is today, with a team of 11 staff, including the owners’ daughters, a recent expansion, and strong, growing support from the region’s growing population.
“We love the team, we wouldn’t be us without the team, I love them to bits,” Ms Fleming said.
“I’m super proud of Donna, myself and all the girls, they’re super lovely – we’re a family.
“Thank you to the community for your support. I’d like to thank everybody.”
