Celebrating family-owned business

1 min read

Did you know The Southern Argus is family-owned and operated?

The Robinson family purchased the 157-year-old newspaper in 2020, having owned and operated The Leader newspaper in the Barossa Valley since 1918.

Together with our fantastic, local team, we believe that our family’s significant newspaper heritage has been of great benefit to The Southern Argus.

Family-owned businesses are recognised as a significant driver of our local economy and their presence should be celebrated.

As these businesses are uniquely local, they help to develop the distinctive make-up of our towns and streetscapes.

Family-owned businesses are entrepreneurial and generally their strategic business plan is long-term which provides stable jobs.

Often, profits are returned back into our very own community through sponsorships and donations which helps our schools, services clubs and organisations to thrive. Family businesses help to provide a choice, drive competition and demonstrate a high level of customer service.

Local businesses have been navigating their way through rising supply costs and turbulent trading patterns.

When you make the conscious decision of shopping local, it is the ultimate compliment to a business-owner and this investment makes a real impact beyond the simple transaction.

It’s important to think local and try to buy local whenever you can to continue to support our local, family-owned businesses.
