Approaching the most magical time of year, The Southern Argus is proud to hop onboard Santa’s sleigh as Christmas Where the Angas Flows’ major sponsor.
After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, thousands of people will gather at the Soldiers Memorial Gardens on Friday, December 16 for the 46th annual Christmas celebration, including pageant, market and fireworks – sponsored by your local community newspaper.
Christmas Where the Angas Flows Committee Chair Graham Jenke was thrilled by the partnership.
“It means we don’t have to raise money for the fireworks, which are very popular, and it is a huge boost to us, the committee,” he said.
“The Argus is a great newspaper and will be a huge help, especially with advertising the event, and will do more than we could ever do.
“We have such a good committee and everybody is working well together for the same cause – to put on a free event for the community.”
Argus co-director Darren Robinson saw the opportunity as a “tremendous honour” for the team to be recognised as this year’s presenting partner.
“In a year whereby your local newspaper, The Southern Argus, has already been so active with community participation, I am particularly proud of the relationship we’ve formed with the ‘Christmas Where the Angas Flows’ committee,” he said.
“Together, we are spreading the message of Christmas and the joy that the season brings.
“Personally, I am very excited to see the return of this special event as an opportunity to connect with friends, neighbours and other community members.”
Mr Jenke said the committee had received much support since the event’s return announcement, and anticipated more than 3000 people to attend.
“I’d like to thank The Argus for coming on board, and encourage other local businesses to show sponsorship support,” he said.
“It is a community event; we are doing it for the community and their customers are part of the community.
“The people they serve are the people that come here.”
