Join acclaimed Adelaide harpist-singer Emma Horwood at St. Andrews Uniting Church Strathalbyn for HarpSong, a delightful program of music spanning the ages.
On Sunday, April 10 at 2pm, Emma will engage the audience with medieval plainsong, Renaissance lute songs, Spanish villancicos, folk songs and Celtic melodies, opera arias and contemporary works.
Be enchanted by Emma’s silvery soprano voice, complemented by both pedal and Celtic harps.
Her husband, Steve Peterka, will accompany Emma on percussion.
This concert is part of a series of fundraising events for extensive restoration work on St. Andrews Church, built in the heart of Strathalbyn from 1848 by Presbyterian settlers.
Photographer and graphic
designer, Malcolm Edward-Cole, who designs the publicity material, enthusiastically says the message is ‘SAVE OUR ST. ANDREWS!’.
Robyn Oertel, St. Andrews Chair, says “Malcolm is one of many people from the community giving a hand”.
“It’s an exciting and fun partnership,” he said.
“St. Andrews is here for the community, spiritually and culturally.”
After the concert, meet Emma and Steve over Devonshire tea or wine and cheese in the hall.
A donation to St. Andrews’ restoration would be appreciated.
The series continues with the theatrical-historical tour, Kirk & Town: St Andrews and Early Strathalbyn, on the first two weekends of May, featuring bagpipes, songs, history and sketches, an SA History Festival event.
On Sunday, May 22, a classical concert will be presented by Adelaide Baroque.
Bookings for events is through TryBooking.com.
Kirk & Town can also be booked at The Book Keeper, South Terrace, Strathalbyn.
